Onigirazu
I stopped by Richmond Auto Mall for car service and bought some take out from Tsujiri located inside Openroad Toyota.
These are rice wrapped with different kinds of savory stuffing. You can think of it as a sushi sandwich or a modern twist to Japanese onigiri, the traditional Japanese rice wrap. The Auto Mall branch is the only Tsujiri offering onigirazu.
I have ordered a fried tofu veggie, a salmon onigirazu and a hojicha latte.
Fried Tofu Veggie Onigirazu
The fried tofu veggie onigirazu is stuffed with lightly sweetened fried tofu sheets usually found in inari / tofu skin sushi and some Japanese pickled vegetables. The teriyaki sauce at the top has given it a savory taste.
Salmon Egg Onigirazu
Stuffed with cooked salmon flakes and tamagoyaki (Japanese style omelet), the salmon onigirazu is a fresh delight. With the wasabi mayo at the top it is like eating a gigantic salmon sushi.
I personally like the Salmon Egg Onigirazu better.
Iced Hojicha Latte
Hojicha is roasted Japanese green tea with strong smoky flavor. It has low in caffeine and is naturally slightly sweetened. I ordered my hojicha latte unsweetened and found it not as bitter as some black tea latte.
